Visa Information for Indonesia

ASEAN Countries:

Citizens of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states, including Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, can enter Indonesia without a visa for stays of up to 30 days. This visa exemption is applicable for purposes such as tourism, family visits, social activities, art and cultural events, government-related tasks, and education. Please note that this exemption is non-extendable and cannot be converted into any other visa type.

Non-ASEAN Countries:

Citizens from non-ASEAN countries may need to apply for a visa depending on their nationality and the nature of their visit. Indonesia offers several visa types:

Visa Exemption: Nationals of certain countries are permitted to enter Indonesia without a visa for short visits of up to 30 days, for purposes such as tourism or family visits. This exemption is not extendable or convertible into another visa type.

Visa on Arrival (VoA): Eligible nationals can obtain a Visa on Arrival at designated entry points for a stay of up to 30 days. This visa can be extended for an additional 30 days.

Tourist Visa: For those wishing to stay longer or those not eligible for a visa exemption or VoA, a tourist visa is required. This visa, typically valid for up to 60 days, can be extended.

Business Visa: Foreigners engaging in business activities in Indonesia may apply for a business visa, which allows a stay of up to 60 days and can be extended.

Social and Cultural Visa: This visa is suitable for those visiting friends or relatives, attending social or cultural events, or conducting research. It permits stays of up to 60 days and is extendable.

Work Visa and KITAS: Foreign nationals intending to work in Indonesia must obtain a work visa along with a temporary stay permit (KITAS), both of which must be sponsored by an Indonesian employer.

Student Visa: To study in Indonesia, a student visa and KITAS are required, and these must be sponsored by an Indonesian educational institution.

Visa regulations are subject to change, so it is recommended to check with the nearest Indonesian embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date information before traveling.
